BiographyDutch organist Steven Knieriem is only 17 years old, but has already gained a place in the young generation of organists in the Netherlands. He was born in 2001 in the province of Zeeland (Netherlands). At the age of 9 he started with organ lessons at the Zeeland Music School. He studies organ with Jos Vogel and his teacher for piano is Rien Balkenende. He has taken separate lessons from Ben van Oosten, Reitze Smits.
A prize winner of several competitions, he was rewarded with the second prize at the national Ambitus Organ Competition in the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem, and the second prize at the international organ competition 'Orgues à Douai' in the Collégiale Saint Pierre de Douai (France). Steven is regularly invited to give solo recitals and concerts in collaboration with others, both at home and abroad. He has given performances in important organ series, so he has come to well-known places with famous organs. His organ repertoire includes all style periods. As a starting composer, Steven has written works for organ. Steven Knieriem currently serves as one of the organists of the Flentrop organ in the Sion Church in Goes. He took up the post in 2017.
